Everything is simple in Sardegna, including the food and recipes: not a lot of spices are used, and very few sauces.
However, believe me, everything is delicious (right FJ?).
Let’s start with a seafood appetizer: octopus, muscles, tuna, and shrimp.
As expected, the main course is pasta (we are Italians…). The most famous recipe is malloreddus alla campidanese (gnocchi in Italian), with sausage.
The local bread, called coccoi in Sardo (coccò in Italian) is made with durum wheat and has a very unique shape (some call it “dinosaur bread”….)
Another typical dish are the culurgiones, a pouch made with fresh pasta filled with potatoes, cheese, onions, and mint. They are usually eaten with red sauce and butter.
And of course dessert….We are celebrating Carnevale: during this time we eat zeppole, which are similar to donuts covered in sugar.
What a meal! A nice walk is what we need to digest it all.
